Best Practices in Social Work Supervision

September 17 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Clinical Supervision is the crucible of competent practice in which an anxious novice is molded into an effective service provider. How can clinical supervisors know that they are meeting the best practice standards for clinical supervision in social work? This workshop will explore the purposes of and major approaches to ethical and effective clinical social work supervision, as well as the technical knowledge, skills and abilities that are related to the areas of competence required of the effective clinical supervisor. Three hours of this workshop will concentrate on the ethical responsibilities of clinical supervisors who provide social work supervision in practice settings.

Linda Oxford, LCSW, LMFT has over 30 years of experience as a social worker, therapist, trainer, educator and consultant in the public and private sectors. She has specific expertise in professional ethics and risk management, clinical supervision, crisis intervention, and solution‐focused methods of problem solving; and frequently conducts professional workshops on these topics.
